The Mukhyamantri Vridha Pension Yojana (MVPY) is a Bihar government scheme providing monthly financial assistance to senior citizens. 

Key aspects of MVPY

Eligibility:

• Permanent resident of Bihar.
• Age 60 years or above.
• Not receiving pension from government service, family pension or social security pension from any other source.
• Should not be a retired government employee.

Benefits:

• For those aged 60-79 years, the monthly pension is ₹1,100, according to Navbharat Times. Previously, it was ₹400.
• For those aged 80 years and above, the monthly pension is ₹500.

Application process:

• Online application through the Social Security Pension Management Information System (SSPMIS) website: https://www.sspmis.bihar.gov.in/.
• Click on “Register for MVPY”.
• Fill in details like district, block, and select “Mukhyamantri Vridha Pension”.
• Provide details including personal information, bank account information, address details etc.
• Aadhaar verification is a crucial step in the application process.

Required documents:

• EPIC Card (Electors Photo Identity Card).
• Aadhaar Card.
• Bank account details with consent for Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT).
• Aadhaar-linked bank account is mandatory.
• Proof of age, residence proof and passport size photograph may also be required. 

Important points to remember

• The pension amount is directly credited to the beneficiary’s bank account via DBT.
• There is no upper age limit to apply for the scheme, as long as the applicant is 60 or older.
• Retired government employees are not eligible for this scheme.
