Bihar Viklang Pension Yojana 2025: Key Information

The Bihar government offers the Bihar Viklang Pension Yojana (Bihar Disability Pension Scheme) to provide financial assistance and social security to differently-abled residents of the state. This scheme aims to benefit those with disabilities not covered under the Indira Gandhi National Disability Pension Scheme (IGNDPS). 

Here’s an overview of the scheme for 2025:

1. Pension amount increase

• In a significant development, the Bihar government announced an increase in the pension amount from ₹400 to ₹1100 per month, starting July 2025. This amount will be directly transferred to the beneficiaries’ bank accounts through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT). 

2. Eligibility criteria

• Applicant must be a resident of Bihar or have resided in Bihar for at least the past 10 years.
• Applicant must be physically disabled with a minimum of 40% disability, certified by a valid disability certificate.
• There’s no minimum or maximum age limit to avail the scheme benefits.
• There is no upper limit on annual income for availing the pension.
• Applicants should not be receiving pension benefits under any other social security scheme.
• Government employees or those owning a three or four-wheeler are not eligible for the scheme. 

3. Application process

• Obtain the application form from your Block office, Panchayat RTPS counter, or download it from the Bihar government website.
• Fill the form with accurate information and attach all necessary documents.
• Submit the completed form at the RTPS center and obtain an acknowledgment receipt.
• Upon successful verification of eligibility and documents, the pension amount will be transferred to your bank account within a few weeks. 

4. Benefits of the scheme

• Monthly financial assistance of ₹1100 directly deposited to the beneficiary’s bank account.
• Provides economic independence, allowing beneficiaries to cover expenses for medication, medical care, food, and other basic needs.
• Offers social security, boosting confidence and enabling participation in society. 

This scheme, administered by the Social Welfare Department, Government of Bihar, aims to empower and uplift the disabled community in the state by providing them with crucial financial and social support.
