The Punjab Education Recruitment Board (PERB) has announced the Punjab Special Education Teacher Recruitment 2025 to fill 725 vacancies for Primary Teacher (PRT – Special) and Trained Graduate Teacher (TGT – Special) positions. This initiative aims to bolster inclusive education in government schools across Punjab. 

Vacancies

  • Primary Teacher (PRT – Special): 393 posts
  • Trained Graduate Teacher (TGT – Special): 332 posts 

Important dates

  • Application Start Date: July 28, 2025
  • Application End Date: August 27, 2025
  • Tentative Exam Dates: August 25, 2025 (Master Cadre) and August 27, 2025 (Primary Cadre) 

Eligibility criteria

  • Age Limit: Minimum 18 years, Maximum 37 years (as of January 1, 2025). Age relaxations apply for reserved categories as per government rules.
  • Educational Qualification:
    • PRT (Special): Passed Class 10 with Punjabi, Bachelor’s Degree, Diploma in Special Education (D.Ed. Spl. Ed.), and qualified PSTET Level-I.
    • TGT (Special): Passed Class 10 with Punjabi, Bachelor’s Degree in Special Education (D.Ed. Spl. Ed.), and qualified PSTET Level-II.
    • Note: Candidates must also be registered with the Rehabilitation Council of India (RCI) or hold equivalent qualifications approved by RCI. 

Application process

Applications are to be submitted online through the official website, www.educationrecruitmentboard.com. The application process involves registration, filling out the online form with necessary details, uploading documents, and paying the application fee. After submission, candidates should take a printout of their application. 

Application fees

The application fee is ₹2000 for General/OBC/EWS categories and ₹1000 for SC/ST/BC/PwD categories. Ex-Servicemen are exempt from paying fees. 

Selection process

The selection process includes a written examination, document verification, and medical examination. A final merit list will be prepared based on the candidate’s performance in the exam and document clearance. The written exam is an objective-type test covering topics such as general awareness, pedagogy, inclusive education, and subject-related questions. 

Salary

The salary for PRT (Special) is ₹29,200 per month, while TGT (Special) will receive ₹35,400 per month, in addition to allowances.
